The book of Ecclesiastes was written by Solomon from the perspective of an individual who was searching for meaning and purpose in life - apart from God. Solomon found out the truth - apart from an eternal relationship with the Creator God life is empty. "Vanity of vanities" is the end result of all pursuits for in the end everyone dies. However, if we apply the lesson which Solomon learned - "remember your Creator in the days of your youth" - then we find that there is meaning and purpose, not only in this life but into eternity as well. In this study of the book of Ecclesiastes, we will consider the true purpose of each of these phases of life which Solomon found to be but vanity "under the sun" by considering them while "remembering" our Creator God!
May the Lord add His blessing to His Word and may He cause those statements that are clearly of man to be like the chaff which the wind drives away.
